What it does

Ctrl+F finds a word once, on one page, and forgets it. This remembers.

Is the free plan actually usable?
Yes. Two lists at 200 words each handles everyday use well. Most people tracking a handful of topics or a team list never hit the limit. Pro is there if you want to go further.
Is Pro a subscription?
No. You pay $7 once through Gumroad and get a license key by email. Paste it into the extension and you are done. There is nothing that renews.
What is fuzzy matching?
A Pro feature that forgives one typo per word: a letter can be wrong, missing, doubled, or swapped, so "Highlaght" and "Highlihgt" both still find "Highlight". Useful for names people misspell all day. It works on words of five letters or more, and you turn it on per list.
Can it match phrases and patterns, or only single words?
Both. A list entry can be a phrase like "refund case". For patterns there is a regex builder: pick "words starting with", "any number", or "email addresses" from a menu and watch it run on sample text before you add it.
Can my whole team use one list?
Point a list at a shared source: a published Google Sheet, a Pastebin link, a Notion database, or an Airtable table. Everyone's extension pulls from the same place on a schedule, so when someone updates the roster, the team gets it. Remote sources are part of Pro.
Does it work on my phone?
No, and nobody's extension does: Chrome on phones does not run extensions at all. On a computer it works in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi and Opera.
Does it work in Opera or Vivaldi?
Yes. Both are built on the same engine as Chrome, so everything works the same. Vivaldi installs it straight from the Chrome Web Store: the button just says "Add to Vivaldi". Opera needs one extra step first, because it does not read the Chrome store on its own. Get the free "Install Chrome Extensions" add-on from Opera's own add-ons page, then come back here and the button will say "Add to Opera". You only do that once.
Will it slow my browser down?
It is built to stay out of the way. It only re-checks the parts of a page that changed, and it was tuned on busy apps like Slack. If a site ever misbehaves, you can switch the extension off for that site in two clicks.
What do you do with my data?
Nothing, because we never receive it. Lists live in your browser's local storage. There is no account and no tracking. The only network calls are ones you ask for, like loading a word list from a URL. Details in the privacy policy.
Why did you build this when highlighters already exist?
The popular one moved to a subscription, and its yellow highlights were hard to read on dark sites. I wanted highlights I could actually read, a way to copy a name by clicking it, and a price I pay one time, so I built it myself.
Does it work in my language?
Yes. The matching works in every language and script: Chinese, Japanese, and Thai that run without spaces, Arabic and Hebrew that read right to left, accents, and vowel marks all get found. The interface itself comes in 52 languages, with a picker in Settings. You can see them all on the languages page.
Why does nothing highlight on Google Docs or Sheets?
Those apps paint their text onto a canvas, almost like a picture, so there are no real words on the page for any extension to find or mark. No highlighter can work there, and the popup now tells you so when you open one of those tabs.
Chrome says it can read and change all my data. Is that safe?
That warning appears for every extension that touches page content, and there is no smaller permission for the job. To highlight your words on a page, it has to read the page. What matters is what happens next, and here nothing leaves your computer. There is no account, no analytics, and no server receiving your browsing. The only time it reaches the internet is when you set up a list that loads from a URL you chose, or when you activate a licence key you bought. You can check that yourself: open Chrome's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and browse with the extension on. Nothing gets sent.
How do I automatically highlight specific words on every webpage?
Add the extension, click its icon, press the plus button, and type or paste your words. That is the whole setup: from then on those words get highlighted on every page you open, automatically, including new content that chat apps and dashboards load late. Each list gets its own color, clicking a highlight copies the word, and the toolbar badge shows how many matches the page has. The guide walks through it with screenshots, and the demo at the top of this page shows it working before you install anything.
